Liverpool Signed Shirt: 1965 FA Cup Winners
![]() |
The 1965 FA Cup final was an epic encounter between Bill Shankly's Liverpool and Don Revie's Leeds United. With the score at 0-0 after 90 minutes, it became the first final since 1947 to go to extra time. With Leeds' superbly drilled defence tiring, Roger Hunt finally broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute with a stooping header from a cross by left-back Gerry Byrne, who amazingly had played most of the match with a broken collar bone. Despite suffering a fearsome onslaught from the Merseysiders, Leeds roused themselves once more, and two minutes later Billy Bremner equalised with a half-volley. Liverpool continued to pile on the pressure and in the 113th minute, Ian St. John headed home from an Ian Callaghan cross. Leeds had no reply and Liverpool clung on to lift the trophy. This replica shirt has been signed by 10 of the victorious team that day: Ron Yeats, Tommy Lawrence, Peter Thompson, Tommy Smith, Ian Callaghan, Wilf Stevenson, Chris Lawler, Roger Hunt, Ian St John and Gerry Bryne.
